Overview

When Live Nation reached out to One Eighty with just 48 hours’ notice to capture The Weeknd’s sold-out performance at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium, our team rose to the challenge. With limited time, we swiftly built a production team, developed an equipment list, coordinated shot lists, and held on-site production meetings to ensure flawless execution.

The Challenge

Operating with such a tight turnaround required precision planning and teamwork. We deployed a two-camera operator setup to maximize coverage while ensuring minimal interference with the artist’s own content team. Navigating access restrictions and capturing live moments in real-time, we maintained the delicate balance between high-quality output and the fast-paced demands of the live event environment.

On-Site Execution

The day kicked off with on-site meetings to align everyone on priorities and constraints. From early afternoon, we captured:

• Fans lining up and engaging outside the venue.

• Key moments from the supporting acts (Anna Lunoe, Chxrry22, Mike Dean).

• The energy and spectacle of The Weeknd’s performance, including fan sound bites and interactions, special effects, and hit tracks like Blinding Lights and After Hours.

• Crowd audio and live atmosphere to create immersive footage.

With a focus on speed, creativity, and cinematic storytelling, our crew ensured we stayed agile and responsive to the event’s unfolding moments.

Deliverables

1. Three live moments delivered during the event for instant posting on social media platforms, driving fan engagement and promoting upcoming Sydney dates.

2. A PR/Media timeline edit delivered overnight, providing footage for breakfast TV and news outlets to broadcast the next morning.

3. A comprehensive recap video delivered the following morning, featuring highlights of the night and encapsulating the energy of the sold-out show. This video will be showcased in our case study on the One Eighty website, demonstrating the seamless execution of high-pressure event coverage.
